History of SMS

Sleep Management Solutions (SMS) was developed specifically to support the needs of the payer and employer in managing both the diagnostic and therapeutic service components of sleep medicine. SMS was formed to address the increasing demands in the management of Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) from both a clinical and financial perspective. In a market which is growing at an annual rate of twenty (20) percent, sleep medicine is viewed as a profit center for most medical providers.

For this reason, payers and self-insured employers are in need of creating a balance between the clinical benefits of appropriate sleep management and the need to contain escalating costs. The care management model developed by SMS was created to provide a quality clinical product delivered in an “appropriate” financial structure. Simply stated, SMS is focused on managing the best interests of the payer and employer customers.
